I adore Lexx. It's just awful and tragically sad, and it's so funny, I don't know how they pulled all that together, but they did. I put a post on my site about you can't handle watching Lexx if you're a wimp. There are hundreds of both tragic and humorous moments. I'm curious what everyone's faves are on those.
I think my fave tragic part is the underlying hopelessness of the Cluster, the dead end job Stan's in, all the people dying for ridiculous injustices, and then it's hilarious to see Stan throwing bolts at that robot's butt and creating an explosion somewhere when one bounces off into the hazard hole, and the way the prisoners were being "added the the protein bay" was so shockingly bizarre and cruel that it hit me funny that here was a show that finally had the guts to show something like that.
And Stan accidently blowing up a planet, that was good. The humor is everything you ever wanted to see in another scifi show and couldn't.
Fave stuff, anyone?

My fav tragic part's was when the cluster got distroyed and when the light universe got destroyed. Other than tragic a favourite part for me would have to be any part that includes 790 abuse. And i love the episodes the web/net, because they are the only ones that managed to spook me

In End of the Universe, it's horrible that the Mantrid drones are all that's left of the Light Universe, but it's hilarious that 790 makes all the counter drones that say "We fight for Xev!"

Arr, but that's not axactly true...because when the light universe get's sucked up we see some planet's being sucked up into it. It gave me the idea for a new fan-fic story I'll start writing it as soon as i can

Indeed I love season 2 for its spookiness! Mantrid, Lyekka, 791, Norb, Twilight, Patches in the Sky, the Web/Net... Those episodes just make you think and feel with the characters "What could happen?, Now how could they escape from that?!? What the hell is going on and what causes it?" etc. I can't find any other show that has so much innovativity and unexplained stuff in it, on most others you kinda know what's gonna happen. Well sometimes u knew what was gonna happen in season 4, but I don't like to think of it as a real Lexx season, more like a joke.

Oh, what the heck. I like all 4 seasons.
Have you all noticed how many 790 suggestions changed everything? It was his idea to blow up Fire, his command that blew up earth. Yet at the same time it's just hilarious that he has no conscience.

I think the reason you don't like season 4 is because you don't live in the states. I'm not from Texas, but it has a reputation, so when Rooster shot all his buddies and Xev went to prison, I was just rolling.

It's not the reason. USA ain't so much different from other countries, we have crazy village people in Bulgaria and uncapable politicians too, I understand the humour. The reason I don't like it is that it totally changes every impression of the series so far. Season 1 and 3's drama and action are left behind for a mockery of everything. I like parody and comedy, but I prefer drama and action. Besides once you've begun a show as one thing you should continue doing it the same way. You surely can notice a lot of large differences in the whole impression between 1.0 and 4.1 or 3.1 and 4.1

As for season 4, satire has always been an integral part of the Lexx, but in season 4 it becomes too obvious and straightforward, compared to other seasons. It's not that I disliked season 4. I loved some eps. I loved the ending. It just wasn't very balanced, the comedic aspect dominated s4 way too much. However, I kinda like it how each season dramatically differs from the previous ones and though one might get the impression, that s4 is no more the full-fledged 100% Lexx we used to know, it would feel even less lexxy, if there didn't come any dramatic change in concept and mood of the show. So - season4 is not my favourite, but it still IS Lexx. If anything, it could have been (i my opinion) a bit shorter.

Ok, I'll be honest.
Fell in love with the movies. When I saw season 2 I thought, "Oh, they suddenly got a series contract and had to come up with something." I mean, that was how it looked to me. Season 3 was difficult to follow because I kept missing here and there for work and every time I tried to record a storm would take out the satellite, so I remember wondering where the rhyme and reason was. Season 4 I thought, "Oh, their contract got renewed again and they're strapped for ideas."
It wasn't until I got very ill-- so ill I couldn't work for 5 months-- that I sat and watched everything I had back to back, having ordered ALL the dvds to fill in the gaps, and suddenly I saw method behind all the madness, genius behind all the stupidity, continuity behind the leaps.
I think it helps being my age. I've got 20 years of scifi filming in my skull, including MST3K and every Star Trek joke every uttered, and I had become so very burned out on formula, lack of imagination, redundancy from one show to another-- I even ran into a book by a scifi writer who detailed how he sold the same idea to several different series, just redressed it to fit each setting and characters, and I actually yelled at the book, "So THAT'S why!!!!!!!!!" To me, that kind of writing is a form of whoring, and I loathe it. Each series should be unique to itself, but when you see the exact same plot device in 3 different shows within 2 weeks of each other, it sux.
So you can have your fave seasons, whatever. I just love it all. I adore it all. I have no fave characters, no faves shows, no fave seasons. I drink in the sets, the lighting, the lack of technical verbage explaining science that hasn't even been invented yet, as though someone were really smart enough to figure that out. I frame by frame special effects, I freeze frame to look at costuming and stuff going on in the background. I used to do this with Farscape, too, but their main plot device grew really old on me until I gagged on them continuing to drag it out, even though the filming got really fun. The heavy metal style drama was awesome, but it jerked my chain so much I wasn't reacting any more.
Maybe THAT's the point of every season being different on Lexx. You can grind a show along for so many years on the same premise and you lose audience. The only reason Stargate is still going is because they grabbed new actors that had a loyal following, but they are running the same plot devices over and over and over again. I internally scream and change the channel. At least Lexx threw something really and truly new at me every season. And I loved 790 blowing up the earth. No other reason for it than a crazed robot head. It was as shocking and cool as Mostly Harmless.
Every season has something that I always wished I could see in another show, but they were too rigid and serious about themselves and not bold enough to take the risk. If Riker and Picard met Stanley Tweedle and Kai, I know whose side I would be on.

I'm glad most of the things on Lexx aren't in the other shows, because that's what makes Lexx unique. I actually don't really care if Lexx copied from someone, because Lexx was the first for me, the first sci-fi show. And it really grabbed me only with the 4 movies. So if I saw Lexx stuff on other show, I wouldn't care who copied - Lexx is the original in my heart. But the fact, that the show is indeed unique and noone has and probably ever will do anything like this makes it even more special

When I first found out Lexx had a big spider in one episode, I just groaned, because so many grade B flicks have huge spiders in them, and even Gilligan had one. And I hate spiders. But that was a GOOD episode. Very mysterious and spooky. I like both versions. I wish they had just put them together into a two hour 'to be continued' thing instead of making two versions.

I loved it the way it was. Well I first watched the second one (I missed the first episode, because I was on vacation and my uncle forgot to tape it for me!!!!!!!!) and much later after that the first one. So the pleasure of the mystery was ruined But anyway I enjoyed them very much! The two versions were a great idea and I think I might try something like this in my own fanfiction on lexxfans, but I'll try to limit it in one episode.
